Our world and generation is faced with a huge battle but God has already won the war. We are faced with a battle of what true love really is and how do God fit in this. Know that God created us to love one another unconditionally, He also wants us to love Him with all our soul and with our hearts (Mark 12:30).
How dare we turn someone away because of what they look like or what they smell like. We have no right to play God; we have no right to judge one another because no man is perfect. The word of God says, “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven” (NIV). Christians and leaders are condemning people because they are wearing a hat! The word of God never lies, and if you turn someone away because of what they have on top of their heads or because of what they smell like then we just turned a soul away from the kingdom of God.
We must fall back from carnal minded thinking and move forward to bring souls to Christ Jesus. God does not care about what we look like; all He cares about is serving Him with all our hearts and souls. Martin Luther King Jr. did not die in vain! He died for a great cause so that all men, women and children shall love another and break away from the chains of prejudice. When Christ Jesus died on that cross He sacrificed His life for our sins and when He rose from the tomb He gave us a gift of love that cost nothing. Love is free and should not be taken advantage of. There are many cultures in our world that practice different ways of living even in America, which represents unity because it holds many nationalities.
Even though we have our own traditions and theories created by man, we must remember that God is still in charge and if that tradition does not line up with God then it will not prosper and that person that holds that tradition will be judged by God. Respect goes a long way but we first must respect ourselves before we demand respect from someone else. A kind word like “thank you” and “hello” goes a long way. We must break free from our spiritual grave and rise to meet love so it can guide us in the right direction. Let’s not turn another soul away on Sunday morning who wants to worship Christ Jesus because he or she is wearing a hat on their head. God’s love is eternal and God does not want us to focus on carnal things. If you focus on what a person is wearing then it is the same as worshipping an idol which is a sin.
The word of God says, Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only” (Matthew 4:10 NIV) and “Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly” (John 7:24 NIV). Will you come into the arms of Christ Jesus and put Him first? Will you make the right decision and love that person who enters your home and church? Will you help that person who is starving on the streets? Will you let God shine through you? We must learn to put our full trust in God and not in man, in order for God’s power to work in our lives and through us we must first depend on God fully. Frank Bartleman writes in his book called Azusa Street, “Hence, we must never become the property of, or limit ourselves to, a party or a movement. Worship only God. Join God in His great movement. Keep moving!
Bartleman was right about us worshiping God only, we have so many other distractions that try to bind our necks, but we as true Disciples of Christ must learn to trust one another, love one another, help one another, have compassion for one another and pray for one another. This recipe is called Real Love/God’s Love.
